Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ¼ cup hot honey, plus more for drizzling
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to get it ready for baking the dip.
- Mix Cream Cheese with Green Onions and Cheese: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened and cubed cream cheese with chopped green onions, shredded chicken, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Stir everything together until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in the hot honey, salt, and garlic powder into the mixture. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors. Taste the dip and add more salt if needed to adjust the seasoning to your preference.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Pour the oil into a cast iron skillet or an 8×8-inch baking dish. Swirl the oil around to coat the bottom and sides, preventing the dip from sticking.
- Add Dip and Top with Cheese: Pour the prepared dip mixture into the oiled dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the dip to create a cheesy crust when baked.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 16-18 minutes. Bake until the dip is gooey, bubbling around the edges, and the cheddar cheese on top is melted and bubbling golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the dip to cool for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, drizzle a little more hot honey on top for an extra touch of sweetness and heat.
Notes
- Use rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken for convenience.
- Adjust the amount of hot honey to increase or decrease the spice level according to your taste.
- This dip is best served warm with crackers, baguette slices, or fresh vegetables.
- For a more intense garlic flavor, freshly minced garlic can replace garlic powder.
- Cast iron skillet helps achieve a crispy edge but an oven-safe baking dish works just as well.
