Enhanced with fresh cilantro, lime and lemon juices, and seasoned with chili powder and cumin, this salsa is perfect for serving with chips, grilled fish, or chicken.
Ingredients
Fresh Produce
- 2 fresh mangos, diced
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 fresno pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/2 cup red onion, diced
- 1/3 cup minced fresh cilantro
- 2 limes, juiced
- 1 lemon, juiced
Spices and Seasonings
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin (optional but recommended)
Instructions
- Prepare: Wash and pat dry all fresh produce to ensure cleanliness and remove any dirt or residue before chopping.
- Combine Produce: In a mixing bowl, add the diced mangos, pineapple, red bell pepper, fresno pepper, red onion, and minced cilantro.
- Mix Cilantro: Stir the ingredients with a rubber spatula thoroughly so the cilantro is evenly distributed throughout the salsa.
- Add Liquids: Pour in the juice of two limes and one lemon into the bowl. Stir again to incorporate the citrus juices evenly.
- Season: Sprinkle the kosher salt, chili powder, and optional ground cumin into the salsa and stir well to combine all flavors.
- Rest: Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for 10 to 60 minutes to allow flavors to meld. The salsa can be served immediately if necessary, but resting improves the taste.
Notes
- For milder salsa, reduce or omit the fresno pepper.
- The ground cumin is optional but adds a warm, earthy flavor to balance the sweetness.
- This salsa pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, seafood, or as a topping for tacos.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
