Description
A quick and flavorful Spicy Sesame Ramen recipe featuring fresh ramen noodles tossed in a savory and spicy sesame-chili sauce, topped with sesame seeds, scallions, and soft boiled eggs for a perfect balance of heat and umami.
Ingredients
Noodles and Sauce
- 6 ounces fresh ramen noodles
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon chili oil
- 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sambal oelek (garlic chili sauce)
Toppings
- Sesame seeds (to taste)
- Sliced scallions (to taste)
- Soft boiled eggs (2, halved)
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and cook the fresh ramen noodles according to the package directions, usually about 2-3 minutes until tender but still chewy. Drain the noodles well.
- Prepare Sauce: While the noodles are cooking, whisk together the sesame oil, chili oil, low-sodium soy sauce, and sambal oelek in a small bowl until fully combined and smooth.
- Toss Noodles with Sauce: Place the drained noodles into a large mixing bowl. Pour the prepared spicy sesame sauce over the noodles and toss gently but thoroughly to coat each strand evenly with the flavorful sauce.
- Serve and Garnish: Divide the sauced noodles into two serving bowls. Top each bowl with a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds, sliced scallions, and a halved soft boiled egg for added richness and texture. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use fresh ramen noodles for best texture; dried noodles will require a longer cooking time.
- Adjust the amount of sambal oelek to control the heat level according to your preference.
- Soft boiled eggs can be prepared in advance by boiling eggs for exactly 6-7 minutes and then cooling them in ice water.
- Soy sauce is low-sodium to keep the dish balanced in salt; feel free to use regular soy sauce if preferred but reduce any additional salt in the recipe.
- For a vegan version, omit the soft boiled eggs or substitute with tofu or mushrooms.
