Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
- 5 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows
- 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 (10 oz cups) of Ghoul’s Mix M&Ms
For Decoration
- 3 oz of white chocolate or vanilla candy coating
- Assorted Halloween sprinkles (such as spiders, bugs, and candy eyeballs)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Line a 9″ x 9″ baking pan with parchment paper leaving some overhang to create a sling. Spray both the parchment and pan lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Reserve M&Ms: Open the bag of M&Ms and set aside 2 tablespoons of candies in a separate dish for topping later.
- Set cereal aside: Place Rice Krispie cereal in a large bowl and keep it ready for mixing with marshmallow.
- Melt marshmallow mixture: In a 2-quart saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter and mini marshmallows together, stirring constantly until smooth and fully melted.
- Mix marshmallow with cereal: Remove the melted marshmallow mixture from heat and immediately pour it over the Rice Krispie cereal. Use a rubber spatula to quickly but thoroughly coat the cereal with the marshmallow mixture.
- Add M&Ms: Stir in all but the reserved 2 tablespoons of M&Ms into the cereal and marshmallow mixture, distributing them evenly.
- Transfer to pan and press: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and press it down evenly and firmly. Spray a sheet of plastic wrap with cooking spray and use it to press the mixture smoothly without sticking.
- Add topping M&Ms: Sprinkle the reserved 2 tablespoons of M&Ms on top and gently press them into the treats so they adhere to the surface.
- Let set: Allow the Rice Krispie Treats to sit undisturbed for at least 2 hours to fully set and firm up.
- Cut the treats: Remove the set treats from the pan using the parchment sling, discard the parchment, trim edges for straight sides, and cut into 12 equal portions.
- Melt white chocolate: Melt the white chocolate or candy coating in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth and pourable.
- Decorate: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over each treat using a piping bag or spoon. Sprinkle with assorted Halloween sprinkles and wait until the drizzle sets before serving.
Notes
- Use cooking spray on your spatula or plastic wrap to prevent sticking while pressing the treats.
- If you prefer a softer texture, reduce marshalling melting time slightly and press less firmly.
- For best results, let treats set at room temperature rather than refrigerating.
- Customize sprinkles to match any holiday or party theme.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
