Description
Nutellamisu is a luscious twist on the classic Italian tiramisu, featuring layers of creamy mascarpone and rich Nutella, soaked ladyfingers in espresso and Frangelico liqueur, all chilled to perfection for a decadent dessert experience.
Ingredients
Cream Mixture
- 3 cups cold heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 16 oz. mascarpone cheese
- 2 (13-oz.) containers store-bought Nutella
Ladyfingers and Soaking Liquid
- 48 ladyfingers
- 3 cups cold espresso or strongly brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons Frangelico liqueur
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons espresso powder
Instructions
- Whip the Cream: In the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or using a large bowl and handheld mixer), beat the cold heavy cream and kosher salt on medium speed until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat to stiff peaks.
- Prepare Mascarpone-Nutella Mixture: In a separate large bowl, combine mascarpone cheese and Nutella until smooth. Gently fold about one-third of the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to lighten it, then carefully fold this combined mixture back into the remaining whipped cream until evenly blended.
- Dip Ladyfingers: In a shallow dish or elongated container large enough to fit ladyfingers, mix together the cold espresso and Frangelico. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into this coffee mixture for about one second to soak without getting soggy.
- Assemble the Tiramisu: Line the bottom of a 13″ x 9″ pan with two vertical rows of 12 dipped ladyfingers. Spread half of the Nutella cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers. Repeat by adding another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining cream mixture.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled tiramisu for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to firm up.
- Serve and Garnish: Just before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu evenly with espresso powder for an added touch of coffee flavor and elegant presentation.
Notes
- Use cold ingredients for best whipping results and texture.
- Avoid soaking ladyfingers for too long to prevent sogginess.
- Nutella mascarpone mixture should be gently folded to maintain lightness.
- Make ahead: Tiramisu can be prepared the day before for enhanced flavor.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
