Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground sausage
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- splash Worcestershire sauce
Cheese
- 5 cheddar cheese slices, quartered
Veggies & Buns
- 20 grape tomatoes
- lettuce, cut in squares
- 20 dill or bread & butter hamburger pickles
- 7-8 large sesame seed hamburger buns
Instructions
- Preheat the Broiler: Set your oven broiler to 550° Fahrenheit to get it ready for cooking the patties.
- Mix the Meat: In a medium bowl, combine ground beef and ground sausage. Season with salt, black pepper, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Mix carefully to avoid overworking the meat which could cause the fats to melt.
- Form Patties and Broil: Shape the meat mixture into 1-inch balls and gently flatten the tops. Arrange them on a broiler pan and cook under the preheated broiler for about 8 minutes. Once cooked, add quartered cheddar cheese slices on top of each patty and return to the broiler to melt the cheese.
- Prepare Mini Buns: Using a small biscuit or cookie cutter, cut mini buns from the tops and bottoms of your sesame seed hamburger buns to create bite-sized buns.
- Assemble Skewers: Thread onto skewers in this order: top bun, 2-3 pieces of lettuce, cheeseburger patty, a grape tomato, a pickle slice, and bottom bun. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Serve: Present the assembled mini cheeseburger skewers with your favorite burger condiments or sauces for dipping and enjoy!
Notes
- Be careful not to overmix the meat mixture to keep the patties tender.
- If you don’t have a broiler pan, use a baking sheet lined with foil and a wire rack for best results.
- Feel free to customize the skewers with additional toppings like onions or different types of cheese.
- These skewers can be made ahead and kept warm in a low oven until serving.
- Use fresh lettuce for a crisp texture that contrasts nicely with the juicy patties.
