Ingredients
Buns
- 1 Pack of Wonder® Classic Hamburger Buns
Beef Patties
- 1-1/2 lb ground chuck
- 1-1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1-1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Cheese
- 1 Pack of American cheese, sliced
Toppings
- Hamburger toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat Skillet: Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium to medium-high heat to approximately 375°F to ensure even cooking of the burgers.
- Carve Cheese Faces: While the skillet heats, have each person carve a jack o’ lantern face into a slice of American cheese carefully to create the decorative topping.
- Mix Meat and Seasoning: In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck with kosher salt and cracked black pepper. Use your hands to mix gently until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
- Form Patties: Divide the seasoned meat into four equal portions. Press each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly and prevent bulging.
- Cook Patties: Place the patties on the preheated skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (medium-rare to well-done).
- Top with Cheese Faces: Remove the cooked patties from heat, then place the carved American cheese slices on top of each patty, allowing the cheese to melt slightly from the residual heat.
- Serve: Assemble the burgers on the Wonder® Classic Hamburger Buns. Serve open-faced so the jack o’ lantern faces are visible, adding any additional toppings as desired for extra flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use a sharp knife or small cookie cutter to carve jack o’ lantern faces for better precision and safety.
- To prevent sticking, lightly oil the cast iron skillet before preheating.
- Adjust the cooking time to your preferred burger doneness; use a meat thermometer for accuracy (160°F for well-done).
- Serve immediately to enjoy the cheese while it’s gooey and melty.
- Customize your burgers with classic toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, or your favorite condiments.
- Ensure food safety by handling raw beef with clean hands and utensils.
