Description

This Grilled Pineapple recipe offers a sweet and smoky treat perfect for summer gatherings or a simple dessert. Pineapple slices are grilled to caramelized perfection with a buttery honey glaze spiced with cinnamon, creating a warm, tender, and flavorful dish that pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch thick slices (about 10 slices)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Vanilla ice cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, and a pinch of kosher salt. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated to create a smooth, flavorful glaze.
  2. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium, approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit. If you prefer, use a grill pan on the stovetop. Lightly spray the grill grates or pan with non-stick cooking spray or brush with oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill the pineapple slices: Place the pineapple slices onto the hot grill. Cook for 2 minutes, then flip each slice and generously baste with the prepared glaze. Continue grilling for another 2 minutes allowing the pineapple to caramelize and absorb the glaze.
  4. Remove and glaze again: Take the pineapple slices off the grill and baste them once more with the remaining glaze to enhance the flavor and shine.
  5. Serve: Serve the grilled pineapple warm. Optionally, top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with additional glaze for an indulgent finish.

Notes

  • Use ripe pineapple for the best sweetness and flavor.
  • If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan or broiler can be a good substitute.
  • The glaze can be made ahead and refrigerated; rewarm before using.
  • For a vegan version, substitute butter with plant-based margarine and use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Be cautious when grilling; pineapple can quickly burn due to its natural sugars.
