Description

This quick and flavorful sautéed asparagus recipe features tender asparagus pieces cooked in butter with garlic and Italian seasoning, finished with fresh parsley for a simple and elegant side dish perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 lb asparagus stalks, trimmed and cut into 1-2 inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped parsley (can also use green onions or fresh dill)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter: In a large pan over medium-high heat, melt the 3 tablespoons of butter until fully melted and starting to bubble slightly.
  2. Cook the asparagus: Add the trimmed and cut asparagus pieces to the pan. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the asparagus is just tender but still crisp.
  3. Add seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, dried Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper. Continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent the garlic from burning and to distribute the seasonings evenly.
  4. Finish with parsley: Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the asparagus, give it a quick stir, then remove from heat. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Trim asparagus by snapping off woody ends before cutting into pieces.
  • Adjust garlic amount to taste for milder or more intense flavor.
  • Substitute parsley with fresh green onions or dill for variation.
  • Serve as a side dish with grilled meats, fish, or pasta.
  • Can easily be doubled for larger servings.
