Description
Easy Mummy Rice Krispie Treats are a fun, festive no-bake Halloween treat featuring classic Rice Krispie bars coated in smooth white chocolate and decorated with candy eyes and drizzled chocolate to create a spooky mummy effect. These treats are simple to make and perfect for parties or themed gatherings.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 12 ounces white chocolate candy coating
- 12 rice krispie treat bars (unwrapped)
- 24 candy eyes
- Parchment paper
- Paper straws or lollipop sticks (optional, for handles)
Tools
- Piping bag
- Wilton 101 piping tip
- Coupler
Instructions
- Melt the white chocolate: Place the white chocolate candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it according to the package instructions or in 30-second increments. Stir well between each heating session until completely melted and smooth.
- Prepare the sticks (optional): Lay a large piece of parchment paper on a flat surface. If you want to insert handles, cut paper straws in half or use lollipop sticks. Dip the tip of each stick into the melted white chocolate and press it into the bottom short side of each rice krispie treat bar. Allow to dry to secure the sticks.
- Coat the treats: Dip each unwrapped rice krispie treat into the melted white chocolate, coating the dipped side and edges thoroughly. Shake off excess chocolate and place the uncovered side down onto the parchment paper. Immediately place two candy eyes on each treat while the chocolate is still wet, then allow them to dry completely.
- Prepare the piping bag: Re-melt any remaining white chocolate candy coating if necessary. Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag fitted with a Wilton 101 piping tip and coupler. If a piping bag is unavailable, use a Ziplock bag with a small corner cut off to pipe the chocolate.
- Create the mummy design: Drizzle the piped white chocolate over the treats in overlapping lines to resemble mummy bandages. Set the treats aside to cool and harden completely.
- Serve or store: Serve the mummy treats immediately, or store them in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Using paper straws or lollipop sticks is optional but helpful for easy handling and presentation.
- Work quickly when applying the candy eyes so they adhere before the chocolate hardens.
- If the white chocolate thickens while working, gently reheat it to maintain a smooth flow for dipping and piping.
- Store the treats in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent melting or sweating of the chocolate coating.
- For a colorful twist, you can tint the white chocolate with oil-based food coloring before melting.
