Description

This Easy Melon Sorbet recipe is a refreshing and simple frozen dessert perfect for warm days. Made with your choice of ripe melon, such as watermelon, honeydew, or cantaloupe, and optionally sweetened with pure maple syrup, this sorbet combines minimal ingredients and effort with delightful, smooth, icy texture. The recipe requires freezing melon cubes overnight and then blending them into a creamy sorbet using a food processor, making it an accessible and healthy treat for all.

Ingredients

Melon

  • 1 melon of choice (watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, etc.)

Sweetener (optional)

  • Pure maple syrup, to taste

Instructions

  1. Freeze Melon Cubes: Cut your ripe melon into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly on a tray lined with parchment paper. Place this tray in the freezer overnight, or for at least 6 hours, until the melon cubes are completely frozen.
  2. Thaw Slightly: After freezing, remove the tray from the freezer and let the melon cubes thaw at room temperature for about 10 minutes. This step makes it easier to blend the melon for a smooth sorbet.
  3. Blend the Melon: Transfer the slightly thawed melon cubes into a food processor. Puree until the mixture is smooth and creamy, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
  4. Sweeten (Optional): Taste your sorbet and, if desired, add a small amount of pure maple syrup for extra sweetness. Blend again for several seconds until the sweetener is fully incorporated.
  5. Serve: Use a cookie dough scoop or ice cream scoop to portion the sorbet into serving dishes. Serve immediately for a soft sorbet or freeze briefly for a firmer texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe, sweet melon for the best flavor results.
  • If the sorbet is too soft, refreeze for 30 minutes to an hour before serving.
  • This recipe is dairy-free and naturally vegan.
  • Feel free to experiment by mixing different melon types for unique flavors.
  • Pure maple syrup enhances flavor but can be omitted for a naturally sweet sorbet.
