Description

A simple and quick homemade fudge recipe that uses baking chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract to create a rich, creamy, and easy-to-make treat. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth with minimal ingredients and effort.

Ingredients

Fudge Ingredients

  • 24 ounces baking chocolate (chocolate chips or baking bars, roughly chopped)
  • 28 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily remove the fudge once set. Lightly mist the lining with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. Melt the Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the baking chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and kosher salt. Stir constantly for about 5 minutes until the chocolate has melted and the mixture becomes thick and shiny. Remove from heat once smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla Extract: Stir in the vanilla extract thoroughly into the hot fudge mixture to enhance the flavor.
  4. Set the Fudge: Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking pan and smooth into an even layer using a spatula. Cover and place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or until the fudge is completely set.
  5. Cut and Serve: Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the foil or parchment paper overhang. Cut into 1-inch squares or your desired size. Store covered at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerated for 2–3 weeks with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.

Notes

  • Use a small offset spatula to spread the fudge evenly for a smooth finish.
  • Ensure you constantly stir the chocolate mixture to prevent burning.
  • The fudge can be stored at room temperature or refrigerated, depending on your preference for texture.
  • For variation, you can add nuts or drizzle with white chocolate before refrigerating.
