Ingredients
Oreo Crust
- 3 cups Oreo crumbs (divided)
- 1/3 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)
Filling
- 2/3 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 6-8 drops Peppermint Extract (to taste)
- Red Food Coloring (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups Crushed Peppermint Candies (divided)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oreos crust: Spray an 8 x 8 inch or 9 x 9 inch pan with non-stick spray and set aside. In a medium-sized bowl, mix the Oreo crumbs with melted butter until combined. Take 1/2 cup of this mixture and set it aside for topping. Press the remaining Oreo mixture evenly into the prepared pan to form the crust. Set aside.
- Prepare the peppermint filling: In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form and set aside. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar at low speed until creamy. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and continue beating until fully combined and creamy. Add the whipped cream, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and red food coloring (if using) and beat until the mixture is well combined. Gently fold in 1 cup of crushed peppermint candies. Spread this filling evenly over the Oreo crust in the pan.
- Add the finishing touches: Sprinkle the reserved 1/2 cup Oreo crumbs and remaining 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies evenly over the top of the dessert.
- Freeze the dessert: Place the pan in the freezer and chill until firm and set, at least 4 hours or overnight, before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of peppermint extract according to your taste preference for stronger or milder peppermint flavor.
- Red food coloring is optional but adds a festive touch and color to the dessert.
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened before beating to ensure a smooth filling.
- For best results, use crushed peppermint candies that are fine enough to mix well but still provide crunch.
- This dessert must be stored in the freezer and served directly from frozen to maintain its texture.
