Description

This Creamy Vanilla Grape & Apple Salad is a delightful blend of sweet red and green grapes, crisp apples, crunchy pecans, and dried cranberries all coated in a luscious vanilla-flavored cream cheese dressing. Perfect for a refreshing side dish or a light dessert, this salad comes together quickly and offers a delicious balance of creamy, fruity, and nutty flavors that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Ingredients

Dressing

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Salad

  • 1 pound red grapes, seedless
  • 1 pound green grapes, seedless
  • 3 red apples, sweet, cored and diced
  • 2/3 cup chopped pecans, plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, blend the ingredients for about 2 minutes or until smooth and creamy.
  2. Assemble the salad: In a large bowl, mix together the red grapes, green grapes, diced apples, chopped pecans, and dried cranberries to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  3. Add dressing and toss: Pour the prepared dressing over the fruit and nut mixture. Gently toss everything together until all the pieces are coated with the creamy vanilla dressing.
  4. Chill before serving: Refrigerate the salad until ready to serve to allow the flavors to meld and the dressing to firm up slightly.
  5. Garnish and serve: Before serving, top the salad with extra chopped pecans and sprinkle a small amount of brown sugar on top if desired for added crunch and sweetness.

Notes

  • You can use either seedless green and red grapes for easier eating and texture.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar in the dressing to taste depending on how sweet you like your salad.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to ensure a smooth dressing without lumps.
  • This salad can be prepared a few hours ahead, but add nuts on top just before serving to maintain crunchiness.
  • For a lighter version, substitute the sour cream with Greek yogurt.
