Description
A simple and healthy Cottage Cheese Flatbread that is quick to prepare, high in protein, and perfect for creating delicious sandwiches or enjoying on its own. This flatbread uses just a few ingredients and is baked to a golden brown, making it a nutritious alternative to traditional bread.
Ingredients
Flatbread Batter
- 1 cup cottage cheese (2% or 4% fat)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a half sheet baking sheet (13 x 18 inches) with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Blend ingredients: In a food processor or high-speed blender, combine the cottage cheese, eggs, and dried oregano. Process until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Spread the batter: Pour the blended mixture into the center of the prepared baking sheet and use a spatula to spread it into a rectangle about 8 x 10 inches in size. Avoid spreading it too thin or across the entire baking sheet.
- Bake the flatbread: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the flatbread is golden brown and cooked through in the center.
- Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Add your favorite sandwich fillings to one half, fold the other half over, and cut the sandwich in half. Enjoy your healthy cottage cheese flatbread sandwich!
Notes
- You can customize the flatbread by adding herbs or spices like garlic powder or basil to the batter for added flavor.
- Make sure not to spread the batter too thin to prevent it from becoming too crispy or breaking easily.
- This flatbread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
- Use 2% or 4% fat cottage cheese depending on your fat preference; lower fat versions may make the flatbread less rich but still tasty.
