Description

These delicious cookie bars are a festive treat perfect for the holiday season, packed with Christmas M&Ms and sprinkles for a colorful and sweet twist. Soft, chewy, and easy to make, they are baked to golden perfection and cut into convenient squares for sharing or gifting.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour

Add-ins

  • 1 cup Christmas M&Ms
  • 1/4 cup Christmas jimmies sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until the mixture is creamy and smooth, creating a light base for your cookie bars.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture, and continue mixing until all ingredients are fully combined and the batter is smooth.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder to evenly distribute the leavening agent and seasoning.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently just until the dough forms. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture tender.
  6. Fold in Add-ins: Gently fold in the Christmas M&Ms and jimmies sprinkles, spreading them evenly throughout the dough for bursts of color and flavor.
  7. Press Dough and Bake: Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, then bake in the preheated oven for 22–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center looks set.
  8. Cool and Slice: Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift out the bars using the parchment paper and slice into squares for serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is softened but not melted for best creaming results.
  • Do not overmix the batter once dry ingredients are added to maintain a soft texture.
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean-up.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • You can customize with other chocolate candies or nuts as desired.
