Description
A delicious and easy Cheesy Roasted Green Beans recipe, featuring tender green beans coated in a flavorful garlic butter mixture, baked until perfectly roasted and topped with melted mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and a hint of crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of kick.
Ingredients
Vegetables
- 1 lb green beans
Seasonings and Oils
- 2 TBSP melted butter
- 1 TBSP olive oil
- 1 tsp fresh minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Cheeses and Toppings
- 1 cup grated part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (or feta cheese as an alternative)
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking or roasting sheet with parchment paper or brush it with oil to prevent the green beans from sticking during roasting.
- Prepare green beans: Wash and trim the green beans to remove any tough stems or ends, ensuring they cook evenly.
- Arrange green beans: Spread the green beans out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, allowing for even roasting and browning.
- Make butter mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, olive oil, fresh minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Coat green beans: Drizzle the butter and seasoning mixture evenly over the green beans and toss gently to coat all the beans thoroughly.
- Roast: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the green beans for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are tender and lightly browned on the edges.
- Add cheese and finish: Remove the roasted green beans from the oven. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and parmesan cheeses evenly over the beans along with the crushed red pepper flakes. Return the pan to the oven for 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
- Serve: Once the cheese is melted and hot, remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve the cheesy roasted green beans as a flavorful side dish ready to enjoy.
Notes
- You can substitute parmesan cheese with feta for a tangier flavor.
- Adjust the crushed red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
- For extra crispness, spread the green beans in a single layer without overcrowding.
- This dish can be prepared ahead and reheated in the oven to maintain crispness.
- Use fresh garlic for the best aroma and flavor.
