Description

Deliciously smoky and spicy BBQ chicken wings, oven-baked to perfection with a caramelized barbecue sauce glaze. Perfect as an appetizer or game-day snack, these wings offer a crispy skin and tender, juicy meat packed with bold flavors from smoked paprika, garlic, and chili flakes.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 2 lbs chicken wings

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Place the chicken wings in a large bowl, ensuring they are spread out to make seasoning easier.
  2. Season the Wings: Sprinkle smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili flakes, salt, and black pepper over the wings. Toss thoroughly until all wings are evenly coated with the seasoning blend.
  3. Bake the Wings: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the seasoned wings on a baking sheet in a single layer with some space between each piece for even cooking. Bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Apply BBQ Sauce and Increase Heat: Remove the wings from the oven and generously brush both sides with BBQ sauce. Increase the oven temperature to 450°F (230°C) to help the sauce caramelize and return the wings to the oven. Bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
  5. Serve: Take the wings out of the oven once cooked through and caramelized. Serve immediately while hot for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, pat the wings dry before seasoning.
  • You can use your favorite BBQ sauce, sweet or spicy, depending on your taste preference.
  • Turn wings halfway during the initial baking to ensure even cooking.
  • Adjust chili flakes for desired heat level.
  • Leftover wings can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
