Description

4th of July Mix is a festive and delicious snack that combines your favorite cereals with crunchy pretzel sticks and colorful M&M’s, all coated in smooth, melted white chocolate. Perfect for celebrating Independence Day or any fun occasion, this sweet and salty treat is easy to make and sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Cereal Mix

  • 3 cups Cheerios
  • 2 cups Rice Chex
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex
  • 2 cups Corn Chex

Additional Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup Pretzel Sticks
  • 2-3 cups M&M’s

Chocolate Coating

  • 24 oz White Chocolate (plus an extra 4-8 oz if needed)

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the Cheerios, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, Corn Chex, pretzel sticks, and M&M’s. Stir gently to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mix.
  2. Melt White Chocolate: Prepare a double boiler by placing a heat-safe bowl over simmering water. Add the white chocolate to the bowl and melt slowly, stirring frequently until smooth and creamy according to the package instructions.
  3. Coat the Mix with Chocolate: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture. Use a wooden spoon or your hands to thoroughly combine, making sure every piece is coated. If the chocolate is insufficient to cover all the ingredients, melt the additional 4-8 oz of white chocolate as needed and add it gradually to ensure complete coating.
  4. Set and Harden: Spread the coated mix evenly on a large sheet of parchment or wax paper. Allow it to cool and harden at room temperature for about 1 hour so the white chocolate sets properly.
  5. Break and Store: Once the white chocolate is firm, break the mix into medium-sized pieces. Store the finished 4th of July Mix in an airtight container kept in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • Customize the look by swapping out M&M colors to match different holidays or parties.
  • Use high-quality white chocolate for smoother melting and better taste.
  • For faster drying, place coated mix in the refrigerator but avoid moisture buildup.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to prevent staling and moisture absorption.
