Description

This Trail Mix Crockpot Candy is a delightful and easy-to-make treat that combines nuts, chocolate, peanut butter, pretzels, and raisins. Slow-cooked to perfection in a crockpot, this candy offers a rich, melty chocolate base with crunchy and chewy mix-ins, topped with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for an irresistible sweet and salty flavor. Perfect for parties, gifts, or a tasty snack.

Ingredients

Nuts

  • 2 cups pecans, walnuts, peanuts or desired nuts

Chocolate

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup pretzel sticks, lightly crushed
  • ½ cup raisins
  • Flakey sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Add peanuts to crockpot: Pour the 2 cups of nuts into the bottom of the slow cooker to create the base layer for your trail mix candy.
  2. Add chocolate + peanut butter: Place the 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate along with the 1 cup creamy peanut butter into the crockpot over the nuts.
  3. Layer chocolate chips and peanut butter on top: Sprinkle the 1 cup dark chocolate chips and 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips on top, but do not stir yet to allow gradual melting.
  4. Cover and cook: Place the crockpot lid on and cook on LOW for about 60 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Stir gently until smooth: Using a spatula or spoon, gently stir the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture until it becomes smooth, glossy, and well combined.
  6. Add trail mix mix-ins: Prepare to add the pretzels and raisins which will provide texture and flavor contrast.
  7. Fold in crushed pretzels and raisins: Stir in the ½ cup lightly crushed pretzel sticks and ½ cup raisins, mixing just enough to coat them without overmixing, to maintain the pretzels’ crunchiness.
  8. Scoop + set: Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto parchment paper laid out on a baking sheet. Sprinkle each spoonful with flaky sea salt if desired for enhanced flavor.
  9. Let set: Allow the candy to set at room temperature for about 1 hour, or refrigerate for 20–30 minutes until firm enough to handle.

Notes

  • You can use any nuts you prefer or a mix of nuts for varied textures.
  • Do not over-stir after adding pretzels to keep them crunchy.
  • Flaky sea salt is optional but highly recommended to balance the sweetness.
  • If you want firmer candy, refrigerate until completely hardened before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
