A luscious Strawberry Trifle with Cream Cheese Delight featuring layers of moist strawberry cake, creamy cheesecake-flavored filling, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream, perfect for an elegant dessert that can be prepared quickly and served chilled.
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 strawberry cake (use a cake mix and bake in a 9×13 baking dish, cooled completely)
Cream Cheese Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3.4 ounces cheesecake pudding mix (unprepared)
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 pounds fresh strawberries, stems removed and sliced (reserve 1 cup for topping)
Whipped Cream Topping
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Slice the Cake: Remove the cooled strawberry cake from the baking dish and cut it into ¾ to 1-inch cubes. Set aside for layering.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Add Pudding Mix: Beat in the cheesecake pudding mix thoroughly. The mixture will be thick and slightly lumpy at this stage.
- Incorporate Heavy Cream: Slowly drizzle in 1½ cups of heavy whipping cream, beating on low speed and fully incorporating each small drizzle (about ⅛ cup) before adding the next, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Sweeten the Mixture: Add ½ cup of powdered sugar to the cream cheese and pudding mixture and beat until fully combined.
- Add Strawberries: Fold in fresh sliced strawberries, reserving about 1 cup for decorating the top of the trifle.
- Layer the Trifle: In a large trifle bowl or serving dish, layer ⅓ of the cake cubes, followed by half of the strawberry and cream mixture, then another layer of cake cubes, the remaining strawberry mixture, and finish with the last layer of cake cubes.
- Whip Remaining Cream: In the bowl of a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, beat the remaining 2 cups of heavy cream using the whisk attachment until soft peaks form. Add the remaining ¼ cup powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Add Whipped Cream and Garnish: Dollop or pipe large mounds of whipped cream around the top of the trifle. Arrange the reserved strawberry slices in the center, pipe one more dollop of whipped cream in the center, and place a halved strawberry with the stem attached on top for decoration.
