Description

This festive Jack O Lantern Cheese Ball is a perfect appetizer for Halloween parties. Cream cheese and cheddar cheese blend into a flavorful, creamy ball, decorated with black olive features and a celery leaf stem to resemble a classic jack-o’-lantern. Serve chilled with crackers for a fun and savory treat.

Ingredients

Cheese Ball

  • 2 package(s) cream cheese, 8 oz each
  • 2 cup(s) grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup(s) cheddar cheese, shredded

Garnish

  • Black olive slices (for eyes, nose, mouth)
  • Leafy part of a celery stalk (for stem)

Instructions

  1. Soften Cheeses: Let the 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese sit out at room temperature until soft enough to blend smoothly with the cream cheese.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, blend the well-softened cream cheese and grated cheddar cheese until smooth. Stir in 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce thoroughly to incorporate flavor.
  3. Shape the Cheese Ball: Form the mixture into a ball shape. Roll the ball in the 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese so it is evenly coated, giving it a textured, cheesy exterior.
  4. Create Facial Features: Use sliced black olives to form the jack-o’-lantern’s eyes, nose, and mouth by carefully placing them on the surface of the cheese ball.
  5. Add the Stem: Stick the leafy part of a celery stalk on top of the cheese ball to represent the pumpkin stem.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cheese ball for about 10 minutes to allow it to firm up. Serve chilled alongside crackers for dipping and spreading.

Notes

  • Allow cheeses to soften to room temperature to ensure smooth blending.
  • Use sharp cheddar for a bolder flavor if desired.
  • Black olives can be cut into different shapes to customize the jack-o’-lantern face.
  • Serve immediately after chilling for best texture and flavor.
  • Additional herbs or spices can be added to the cheese mixture to customize taste.
