Description

A refreshing and easy homemade lemonade recipe that combines fresh lemon juice, a simple sugar syrup, and water to create the perfect balance of sweet and tart. This homemade lemonade is ideal for a quick summer drink or to serve chilled for a crowd.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (divided from total)

Lemonade

  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (seeds removed, pulp optional)
  • 5 cups water (divided from total)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Simple Syrup: Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low, stirring continuously until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. Mix Lemon Juice and Syrup: Pour 1 cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice into a pitcher. Add the cooled simple syrup to the lemon juice, mixing well to combine.
  3. Add Remaining Water and Serve: Pour in the remaining 5 cups of water and stir thoroughly. Serve over ice immediately or refrigerate for several hours to chill before serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar depending on your taste preference.
  • To add a twist, garnish your lemonade with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices.
  • If you prefer pulp-free lemonade, strain the lemon juice before mixing.
  • This recipe yields about 8 servings and can be doubled easily for larger groups.
  • For a sparkling version, substitute still water with sparkling water.
