Description

A refreshing and healthy snack, Easy Watermelon Fries are crisp, juicy slices of watermelon cut into fry shapes and served with a sweet vanilla yogurt dip. Perfect for a light treat or party appetizer, this recipe combines the natural sweetness of watermelon and strawberries with creamy yogurt and honey for dipping.

Ingredients

Watermelon Fries

  • 1 Half of a Large Watermelon

Vanilla Yogurt Dip

  • ½ cup Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 cup Strawberries (stems and leaves removed)
  • 1 TB Honey

Instructions

  1. Slice the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon in half, then slice into round discs about 1/2 inch thick to create a manageable thickness for your fries.
  2. Halve the Discs: Cut across the middle of each disc, resulting in two semi-circle halves for easier handling and cutting.
  3. Cut the Fries: Using a crinkle cutter, cut each semi-circle into fry shapes starting from one end of each watermelon half to the other, creating ridged watermelon fries.
  4. Remove Excess Rind: Trim any extra rind leftover from the cutting process, discarding or composting it to reduce waste.
  5. Prepare the Yogurt Dip: Add vanilla yogurt, strawberries, and honey to a blender.
  6. Blend the Dip: Blend on low speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Adjust honey amount to taste for desired sweetness.

Notes

  • Use a crinkle cutter to give the watermelon fries a fun texture and better grip for dipping.
  • The yogurt dip can be prepared in advance and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
  • Substitute honey with maple syrup to keep the dip vegan-friendly.
  • Ensure watermelon slices are not too thick for easy eating and better flavor balance with the dip.
