Ingredients
Salad Dressing Ingredients
- 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (use high-quality for best results)
- 0.7 oz Zesty Italian Dressing Mix
- 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 Tablespoon Romano cheese, grated (optional)
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place all the ingredients into a mini food processor or a jar with a secure lid. This includes the olive oil, Italian dressing mix, distilled white vinegar, water, Romano cheese (if using), sugar, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Mix Thoroughly: Blend in the food processor until the dressing is smooth and emulsified, or if using a jar, shake vigorously until all ingredients are fully combined and evenly mixed.
- Chill the Dressing: Refrigerate the dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the dressing to thicken slightly. Keep chilled until ready to serve.
- Shake Before Use: Before pouring the dressing on your salad, be sure to shake the jar well to remix the ingredients, as separation may occur during storage.
Notes
- High-quality extra virgin olive oil significantly improves the flavor of this dressing.
- The grated Romano cheese is optional but adds a nice savory depth.
- Mayonnaise helps with creaminess and emulsification; ensure it is not Miracle Whip for proper texture.
- Shake the dressing well before each use since ingredients tend to separate over time.
- Store the dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
