Description

A festive and savory Turkey Cranberry Crescent Ring that combines tender turkey, creamy chive onion cream cheese, tangy cranberry sauce, and melted Gruyere cheese wrapped in flaky crescent rolls. Perfect for holiday gatherings or a comforting snack, this easy-to-make ring is flavorful and visually impressive, ready in just 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Crescent Ring Base

  • 1 8 oz tube crescent rolls
  • 2 Tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

Spread and Filling

  • 4 oz chive and onion cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary or thyme (divided)
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese (May use Swiss or Monterey Jack) (divided)
  • 1 lb thinly sliced turkey (leftover or deli turkey)
  • 1 14 oz can whole berry cranberry sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Arrange crescent rolls: Separate the crescent rolls and arrange them in a circle on the parchment paper, with the wide ends facing inward, overlapping to form a ring about 4 to 5 inches in diameter in the center.
  3. Prepare cream cheese spread: In a small bowl, whisk together softened chive and onion cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and 1 teaspoon of the finely chopped rosemary until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly along the wide portions of the crescent rolls.
  4. Add cheese and turkey: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese over the cream cheese spread. Then layer the thinly sliced turkey evenly on top, overlapping slightly for full coverage.
  5. Add cranberry sauce and remaining cheese: Spread half of the cranberry sauce over the turkey layer. Reserve the remaining cranberry sauce for serving. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top.
  6. Fold crescent dough: Carefully bring the narrow ends of the crescent dough over the filling, tucking them neatly underneath the widest part of the ring to seal the filling inside.
  7. Brush with seasoned butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, poppy seeds, granulated garlic (or garlic powder), and salt. Brush this seasoned butter mixture generously over the top and sides of the crescent dough ring.
  8. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 22 to 24 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let it rest on the pan for 5 minutes to set.
  9. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of fresh rosemary over the top. Slice the ring and serve with the reserved cranberry sauce on the side for dipping or spreading.

Notes

  • Use leftover turkey or deli turkey slices for convenience.
  • Substitute Gruyere cheese with Swiss or Monterey Jack if preferred.
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme can be used interchangeably based on taste.
  • Store leftover crescent ring wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness before serving leftover slices.
  • Make sure to brush the seasoned butter evenly to get a nice golden crust with poppy seed flavor.
