Description

Sweet Blueberry Biscuits are soft, buttery, and packed with juicy blueberries in every bite. These easy homemade biscuits are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert and are topped with a simple vanilla glaze for extra sweetness.

Ingredients

  • For the biscuits:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and grated
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (tossed with a little flour)
  • For the glaze (optional):
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss blueberries with a little flour to prevent sinking in the dough.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  4. Grate in cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  5. Add buttermilk and stir until dough forms. Gently fold in blueberries.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. While baking, make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla.
  9. Let biscuits cool slightly, then drizzle glaze over the top.

Notes

  • Add lemon zest to the dough or glaze for a citrusy touch.
  • Frozen blueberries work well—use them straight from the freezer.
  • For richer biscuits, replace some buttermilk with heavy cream.
  • Great for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet snack.
