Description

Candy apples coated with white chocolate and strawberry‑shortcake style toppings

Ingredients

  • 6 Granny Smith apples (washed & dried)
  • 6 wooden sticks or decorative straws
  • 3 cups white chocolate melting wafers (or white almond bark)
  • ½ cup strawberry‑flavored candy melts (for drizzle)
  • 1 cup Golden Oreo cookies, crushed fine
  • 1 cup freeze‑dried strawberries, crushed fine
  • Fresh strawberry slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Insert sticks into the top of each apple (making sure apples are completely dry).
  2. In a microwave‑safe bowl (or double boiler), melt the white chocolate wafers in 20–30 second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  3. Dip each apple into the melted white chocolate, turning to coat evenly, and allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  4. While chocolate is still wet, dip or roll the bottom half of the coated apple into a mixture of crushed Golden Oreos and freeze‑dried strawberries.
  5. Place apples on parchment paper to set.
  6. In a separate bowl, melt the strawberry candy melts, then drizzle over the coated apples to create stripes or decorative lines.
  7. If desired, gently press fresh strawberry slices into the coating before it fully hardens.
  8. Allow apples to harden fully at room temperature or in the fridge.
  9. Serve within 1–2 days for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure apples are completely dry; moisture prevents coating from sticking properly.
  • Work quickly when dipping and adding toppings before chocolate sets.
  • Use parchment or wax paper under apples to avoid sticking.
  • For a gluten‑free version, replace Golden Oreos with a gluten‑free cookie alternative.
  • Store coated apples in an airtight container in the fridge.
