Description

Steak Queso Rice is a flavorful and hearty meal featuring tender seasoned steak, creamy queso, and fluffy rice. This easy and satisfying one-skillet recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ribeye or sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water or beef broth
  • 1 cup queso (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season steak pieces with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Cook steak until browned and cooked through; remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add rice and toast lightly for 1 minute.
  5. Pour in water or beef broth, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer until rice is tender.
  6. Stir cooked steak back into the skillet.
  7. Pour queso over the steak and rice mixture and gently stir until well combined and heated through.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • Swap steak for chicken, ground beef, or shrimp for different variations.
  • Add black beans, corn, or bell peppers for extra texture.
  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat with a splash of broth or water to keep the rice moist.
