Description
Smash Burger Tacos combine the best of juicy smash burgers and crispy tacos. Featuring a flavorful beef patty pressed onto tortillas, melty cheese, and classic burger toppings with a tangy burger sauce, this recipe is quick, easy, and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 flour tortillas (6-inch)
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado)
- 4 slices American cheese (or any good melting cheese)
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 12 dill pickle chips
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, pickle relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, white vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth. Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions.
- Place a tortilla on a clean surface and press a portion of beef evenly across it. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the tortilla meat-side down and press flat. Cook for 2–3 minutes until a crust forms.
- Flip the tortilla so the tortilla side cooks. Top the beef with a slice of cheese and cook for 1–2 more minutes until the cheese melts.
- Remove the taco from the skillet and repeat with the remaining tortillas and beef.
- Spread burger sauce over the cheesy beef side. Top with shredded lettuce, diced onion, and pickle chips.
- Fold each taco and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter variation.
- Spicy mayo or Greek yogurt makes a great alternative to the burger sauce.
- Try different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for added flavor.
- Make the sauce ahead of time and store it for up to 5 days.
