Description

These Pizza Cupcakes make a fun and tasty twist on traditional pizza, combining all your favorite toppings inside perfectly baked dough cups. Ready in just 25 minutes, they’re ideal for parties, snacks, or a creative weeknight meal that both kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 3/4 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Filling

  • 1/3 cup pizza sauce
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or your favorite blend)
  • 1/3 cup mini pepperoni (or regular pepperoni chopped)
  • 1/8 tsp dried basil (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and lightly brush a 12-cavity cupcake tin with olive oil or apply cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Using a 3-inch circle cookie cutter or a similarly sized drinking glass, cut out 12 dough circles. Gather and re-roll any scraps as needed.
  3. Form Dough Cups: Gently press each dough circle into the bottom and up the sides of each cupcake tin cavity, creating cup shapes to hold the toppings.
  4. Add Toppings: Spoon approximately 1 1/2 teaspoons of pizza sauce into each dough cup. Evenly sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese on top, then add 4-5 mini pepperonis per cup. Optionally, sprinkle dried basil and red pepper flakes over each for extra flavor.
  5. Bake: Place the cupcake tin in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the edges of the dough turn golden brown.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the pizza cupcakes to cool for a few minutes in the tin before removing and serving warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute mini pepperoni with chopped regular pepperoni or other favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms or olives.
  • For a crispier crust, bake a minute or two longer but watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Make sure to flour your surface lightly to prevent dough from sticking while rolling and cutting.
  • These pizza cupcakes are best served shortly after baking but can be stored in an airtight container and reheated.
