Description

These Olive Garden Breadsticks are a soft, buttery, and garlic-seasoned copycat recipe that brings the iconic restaurant favorite to your home kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt or garlic salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a 7-inch rope.
  6. Place the breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Bake the breadsticks for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush immediately with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and salt (or garlic salt).

Notes

  • For cheesy breadsticks, sprinkle Parmesan on top before baking.
  • To add heat, mix crushed red pepper into the garlic butter.
  • Swap half the flour with whole wheat for a heartier version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for a week.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months; reheat in oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
