Description
These Olive Garden Breadsticks are a soft, buttery, and garlic-seasoned copycat recipe that brings the iconic restaurant favorite to your home kitchen.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt or garlic salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add salt, oil, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a 7-inch rope.
- Place the breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake the breadsticks for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush immediately with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and salt (or garlic salt).
Notes
- For cheesy breadsticks, sprinkle Parmesan on top before baking.
- To add heat, mix crushed red pepper into the garlic butter.
- Swap half the flour with whole wheat for a heartier version.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for a week.
- Freeze for up to 3 months; reheat in oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
