Description

This Joe’s Crab Shack crab dip copycat recipe is a creamy, cheesy, crowd-pleasing appetizer packed with lump crab meat and bold seasoning. Baked until hot and bubbly, it’s the ultimate party dip that’s easy to make and impossible to resist.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup lump crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: extra shredded cheese and green onions for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a small baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Stir in mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic, green onions, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and hot sauce.
  3. Fold in crab meat, cheddar, and mozzarella until well combined.
  4. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly with golden edges.
  6. Garnish with green onions and serve warm with chips, crackers, or bread.

Notes

  • Lump crab meat gives the best texture and flavor, but claw or imitation crab can work in a pinch.
  • Add spinach, artichokes, or shrimp for variation.
  • Great served with tortilla chips, toasted baguette slices, or fresh veggies.
  • Prep ahead and bake just before serving.
