Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, divided
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar
- 1/3 cup honey
- Kosher salt to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large frying pan over medium to medium-high heat.
- Slice chicken breasts lengthwise into four thinner pieces. Season with salt and pepper, then coat evenly with flour.
- Cook the floured chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Melt the remaining butter over medium-low heat. Cook sliced garlic for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce and rice vinegar, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Stir in honey, pepper, and salt. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return chicken to the pan and simmer in the sauce for 1 minute until heated through. Garnish with green onions and serve.
Notes
- Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier result.
- Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free flour and tamari.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water; avoid microwaving to prevent drying.
