A delightful twist on a classic, this Honey Banana Grilled Cheese Sandwich combines melty cheese, sweet banana slices, and rich honey between crispy grilled bread slices.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (sourdough or whole wheat recommended)
- 1 ripe but firm banana, sliced
- 2 slices of cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or brie)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Slice the banana into thin rounds.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer cheese and banana slices.
- Drizzle honey over the banana, then top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Place the sandwich on the skillet and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing slightly with a spatula.
- Once golden brown and cheese is melted, remove from skillet, rest for a minute, then slice and serve.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm bananas for the best texture.
- Try cinnamon swirl bread or add a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flavor.
