Description

These homemade cheesy breadsticks feature soft, fluffy pizza dough brushed with garlic butter, topped with mozzarella and Parmesan, then baked until golden and bubbly—perfect as a side or snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • Olive oil, to coat the baking sheet
  • 24 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic (minced or powder)
  • 12 tsp Italian seasoning (parsley, oregano, basil)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425–500 °F (220–260 °C) and position the rack in the lower third of the oven.
  2. Roll the pizza dough out on a parchment-lined surface into a rectangle (around 9×13″ to 14×10″).
  3. Coat a rimmed baking sheet with olive oil and transfer the dough, pressing it gently to fit the pan.
  4. Mix the melted butter with garlic and half of the Italian seasoning, then brush over the dough generously.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the dough, top with remaining seasoning and a pinch of salt.
  6. Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and edges are golden. Broil for 1 minute if desired for extra browning.
  7. Let sit for 1–2 minutes, then slice into 16–18 breadsticks with a pizza cutter. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a preheated pizza stone or upside-down baking sheet for a crispier crust.
  • Try different cheeses like colby-jack or cheddar for variation.
  • Make sweet breadsticks by brushing with butter and sprinkling cinnamon sugar after baking.
  • Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
