Description
These homemade cheesy breadsticks feature soft, fluffy pizza dough brushed with garlic butter, topped with mozzarella and Parmesan, then baked until golden and bubbly—perfect as a side or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 recipe pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- Olive oil, to coat the baking sheet
- 2–4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic (minced or powder)
- 1–2 tsp Italian seasoning (parsley, oregano, basil)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425–500 °F (220–260 °C) and position the rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Roll the pizza dough out on a parchment-lined surface into a rectangle (around 9×13″ to 14×10″).
- Coat a rimmed baking sheet with olive oil and transfer the dough, pressing it gently to fit the pan.
- Mix the melted butter with garlic and half of the Italian seasoning, then brush over the dough generously.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the dough, top with remaining seasoning and a pinch of salt.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and edges are golden. Broil for 1 minute if desired for extra browning.
- Let sit for 1–2 minutes, then slice into 16–18 breadsticks with a pizza cutter. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use a preheated pizza stone or upside-down baking sheet for a crispier crust.
- Try different cheeses like colby-jack or cheddar for variation.
- Make sweet breadsticks by brushing with butter and sprinkling cinnamon sugar after baking.
- Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
