Description

Homemade banana and peanut butter chew sticks for dogs are a healthy, preservative-free treat made with simple ingredients. Perfect for training, teething, or just as a special snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (unsweetened, xylitol-free)
  • 1½ cups oat flour
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mash ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Add peanut butter and coconut oil to the bananas and mix until creamy and well-blended.
  4. Gradually stir in oat flour until a firm, pliable dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into logs about ½ inch thick and 5–6 inches long, and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 25–30 minutes for softer chews, or reduce to 200°F (90°C) and bake for 1.5–2 hours for firmer chews.
  7. Allow chew sticks to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for flavor and anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Include a tablespoon of pumpkin puree for extra fiber.
  • Incorporate mashed blueberries for antioxidants.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • For longer-lasting chews, bake at lower temperature for extended time or use a food dehydrator.
