Homemade banana and peanut butter chew sticks for dogs are a healthy, preservative-free treat made with simple ingredients. Perfect for training, teething, or just as a special snack.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- ½ cup natural peanut butter (unsweetened, xylitol-free)
- 1½ cups oat flour
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mash ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add peanut butter and coconut oil to the bananas and mix until creamy and well-blended.
- Gradually stir in oat flour until a firm, pliable dough forms.
- Roll dough into logs about ½ inch thick and 5–6 inches long, and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 25–30 minutes for softer chews, or reduce to 200°F (90°C) and bake for 1.5–2 hours for firmer chews.
- Allow chew sticks to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Add a pinch of cinnamon for flavor and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Include a tablespoon of pumpkin puree for extra fiber.
- Incorporate mashed blueberries for antioxidants.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
