Description

Funnel cake bites are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and dusted with powdered sugar. This easy homemade version captures the magic of fairground treats in bite-sized form.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  5. Using a spoon or small scoop, drop batter into the hot oil, without overcrowding.
  6. Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

  • For a spiced variation, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter.
