Description

Indulge in these decadent French Silk Brownies—a heavenly fusion of rich, fudgy brownie base and smooth, chocolatey French silk topping. This easy dessert is perfect for gatherings and will impress any chocolate lover with its luscious layers and creamy finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 boxed brownie mix
  • 1 egg
  • Unsalted butter (for both brownie and silk layer)
  • Milk
  • 1 semi-sweet chocolate bar (e.g., Baker’s Chocolate)
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip or whipped topping
  • Optional: Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 11×7-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix brownie mix, egg, melted butter, and milk in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Spread batter in dish and bake 25–28 minutes; cool completely.
  4. Beat cream cheese with vanilla until smooth. Add powdered sugar and mix.
  5. Melt chocolate and butter in microwave in 30-second intervals; stir until smooth.
  6. Combine melted chocolate with cream cheese mixture, then fold in Cool Whip.
  7. Spread French silk layer over cooled brownies.
  8. Top with remaining Cool Whip.
  9. Garnish with chocolate shavings or chips (optional).
  10. Chill until set. Slice into 12 squares to serve.

Notes

  • Let brownies cool completely before adding the French silk layer to avoid melting.
  • Use homemade whipped cream as a substitute for Cool Whip if stabilized.
  • Intensify chocolate flavor with dark chocolate or cocoa powder.
  • Store in the refrigerator up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 1 month.
  • Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving for best texture.
