Ingredients
Roll Ups
- 4 12-inch flour tortillas
- 4 slices Provolone cheese (about 5 ounces)
- 1/2 lb deli sliced roast beef
- 3/4 cup French fried onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Dipping Sauce
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425ºF to get it ready for baking the roll ups.
- Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the 4 tortillas flat on a clean surface. Tear the Provolone cheese into smaller pieces and evenly distribute over each tortilla. Layer the deli sliced roast beef evenly on top of the cheese, then sprinkle the French fried onions over the roast beef for added crunch.
- Roll Tortillas: Fold the sides of each tortilla inwards and then tightly roll it up to enclose the filling. Brush a bit of olive oil on the edge of the tortilla to seal it, then place it seam side down on a baking sheet. Repeat this step with all tortillas.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Generously brush the tops of the rolled tortillas with the remaining olive oil to help them brown and crisp during baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet with the roll ups into the preheated oven and bake until golden brown and crisp, about 10 minutes.
- Prepare Dipping Sauce: While the roll ups bake, combine the beef consommé, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and heat until the sauce is warmed through.
- Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven and cut each in half. Serve warm with the hot beef consommé sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dipping sauce.
- You can substitute Provolone cheese with Swiss or mozzarella as preferred.
- Double the recipe easily for larger gatherings or parties.
- Make sure to brush olive oil evenly to ensure a crispy exterior on the roll ups.
- Leftover roll ups can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for best texture retention.
