Description
Edible Aquarium Popsicles are a fun, visually stunning summer treat for kids, featuring colorful gummy fish ‘swimming’ in a vibrant blue ocean made from sports drink and lemonade.
Ingredients
- 2 cups blue sports drink (e.g., Blue Raspberry Gatorade® or Powerade®)
- 1 cup clear lemonade (store-bought or homemade)
- 1–1½ cups gummy fish (Swedish Fish® or other small fish-shaped gummies, assorted colors)
- Popsicle molds (6–8 capacity)
- Popsicle sticks (if not built into the molds)
Instructions
- Mix together 2 cups of blue sports drink and 1 cup of clear lemonade in a jug with a pour spout. Optionally, add a drop of blue food coloring for deeper color.
- Place 1–2 gummy fish at the bottom of each popsicle mold. Pour the blue mixture into each mold to fill about ¼ full. Freeze for 20–30 minutes until slushy.
- Add another 1–2 gummy fish to each mold. Fill the molds to the top with the remaining blue lemonade mixture. Insert popsicle sticks.
- Freeze for 4–6 hours or overnight for best results.
- To unmold, run warm water over the outside of each mold for 10–15 seconds and gently pull to release.
Notes
- Freeze in layers to suspend gummy fish evenly throughout.
- Use silicone molds for easier removal.
- Add lemon juice or coconut water for a flavor twist.
- Let pops sit for 1–2 minutes before eating to soften gummies.
