Ingredients
- 1 package puff pastry (two sheets)
- 8 oz cream cheese (full-fat)
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or Bourbon)
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lay out one sheet of puff pastry and cut it into 4 equal squares.
- Cut small slits in each corner of the squares, creating an “L” shape without cutting to the center.
- Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract (or Bourbon) together. Place a spoonful of the mixture in the center of each square.
- Top with a cherry and a bit of filling from the can.
- Wet the corners of each square with water and fold them towards the center to secure the filling.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a glaze if desired.
Notes
- You can swap the cherry filling for other fruits like raspberry, blueberry, or strawberry for different flavors.
- If you prefer a lighter texture, phyllo dough can replace puff pastry.
- Instead of powdered sugar, a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk can be drizzled for a sweeter finish.
