This Easy and Fast Cinnamon Twist Loaf combines the flavors of classic cinnamon rolls with a beautiful twisted loaf presentation. Soft, warm, and filled with sweet cinnamon sugar, it’s an impressive yet simple treat.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon dry active yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 3–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
- ⅔ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2–4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add the flour and salt, and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rest, covered with a towel, for about 10 minutes.
- Roll the dough into a 10×12-inch rectangle. Brush it with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it evenly over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough up lengthwise into a log. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Slice the log lengthwise, leaving the top ½ inch intact. Twist the two strands over each other, keeping the cut side up.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before topping it with your favorite glaze or frosting.
