Description

This Easy and Fast Cinnamon Twist Loaf combines the flavors of classic cinnamon rolls with a beautiful twisted loaf presentation. Soft, warm, and filled with sweet cinnamon sugar, it’s an impressive yet simple treat.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon dry active yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 34 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
  • ⅔ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 24 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Add the flour and salt, and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Let the dough rest, covered with a towel, for about 10 minutes.
  4. Roll the dough into a 10×12-inch rectangle. Brush it with melted butter.
  5. In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it evenly over the buttered dough.
  6. Roll the dough up lengthwise into a log. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Slice the log lengthwise, leaving the top ½ inch intact. Twist the two strands over each other, keeping the cut side up.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before topping it with your favorite glaze or frosting.

Notes

  • Add sautéed apples for an apple cinnamon version.
  • Mix in chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for texture.
  • Sprinkle mini chocolate chips before rolling for a chocolate-cinnamon twist.
  • Use maple or citrus glaze for a different flavor profile.
  • Add cardamom or nutmeg for a spiced-up twist.
