Description
This easy and delicious 3-ingredient cottage cheese pizza crust offers a high-protein, low-carb alternative to traditional dough. Made with simple ingredients like cottage cheese, eggs, and mozzarella, it’s the perfect base for your favorite pizza toppings and ideal for a quick, satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Crust Ingredients
- 1 cup Cottage Cheese (Can be low-fat or regular)
- 2 large Eggs (No substitutes recommended)
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (Part-skim or dairy-free alternatives optional)
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (Customize with herbs as desired)
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (Blends classic pizza herbs)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the cottage cheese, eggs, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined to create the base batter for the crust.
- Add Cheese: Transfer the blended mixture to a bowl and gently fold in the shredded mozzarella cheese by hand, ensuring it’s evenly incorporated without overmixing.
- Form Crust: Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a crust about ¼-inch thick. Make sure the layer is uniform for even baking.
- Bake Crust: Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes until the edges turn golden brown. For an extra crunchy crust, optionally broil for an additional 1–2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Rest and Add Toppings: Remove the crust from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Then add your preferred pizza toppings evenly over the crust.
- Final Bake: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 5–8 minutes until the cheese on top melts and bubbles.
Notes
- Use full-fat or low-fat cottage cheese based on preference; low-fat will reduce the fat content but maintain flavor.
- Do not substitute the eggs to ensure proper binding of the crust.
- Customize the seasoning by adding fresh herbs or spices as desired.
- Baking times may vary slightly depending on your oven, so monitor crust color and texture closely.
- For a crispier crust, broil for 1–2 minutes after the initial bake, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Allowing the crust to rest before adding toppings helps it firm up and hold toppings better.
