Description
This Crockpot Steak Bites recipe transforms sirloin steak into tender, juicy morsels, slow-cooked in a savory au jus sauce with garlic, sweet onions, and butter for a rich, comforting dish.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 cup unsalted beef stock
- 1 (1-ounce) packet au jus gravy mix
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Place the cubed steak into a large bowl and toss with salt and pepper to season evenly.
- Heat half of the vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Sear the steak pieces in batches, ensuring each side is browned, then transfer them to the slow cooker.
- Add the sliced onion and garlic to the slow cooker, mixing them with the steak.
- Pour the unsalted beef stock over the steak and sprinkle the au jus gravy mix on top. Place the sliced butter over the mixture.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 3–4 hours or on low for 6–8 hours, stirring every 30 minutes if possible.
- Once done, serve the steak bites warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For milder flavor, sauté the onions and garlic before adding them to the slow cooker.
- Other cuts of beef like round steak, beef stew meat, or chuck roast can be used instead of sirloin.
- Carrots or mushrooms can be added for extra flavor and nutrition.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
