Ingredients
- 12 oz mushrooms (chestnut, cremini, or button), cleaned and trimmed
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, whisked
- 1 cup fine dried breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying (sunflower or canola)
Instructions
- Clean mushrooms using a damp paper towel and trim the stems as needed.
- Set up 3 bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each mushroom in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture. Coat well.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve warm with garlic mayo, spicy aioli, or dipping sauce of choice.
Notes
- Add smoked paprika or cayenne to the breadcrumbs for a spicy twist.
