A versatile and easy dough recipe that can be used to make pizza, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and more. Soft, pillowy, and made with simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, yogurt, egg, and olive oil.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it as desired (pizza, cinnamon rolls, or dinner rolls).
- Bake according to variation: pizza at 475°F for 12–15 minutes, cinnamon rolls at 350°F for 25 minutes, or dinner rolls at 375°F for 20 minutes.
Notes
- Recipe yields about 2 pounds of dough (2 large pizzas or 12 rolls).
- Dough can be refrigerated for 24 hours after the first rise.
- Freeze portions of dough for up to 2 months.
- Reheat baked goods in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes for best texture.
- Substitute half of the flour with whole wheat for a healthier version.
