Description

A versatile and easy dough recipe that can be used to make pizza, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and more. Soft, pillowy, and made with simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk, yogurt, egg, and olive oil.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it as desired (pizza, cinnamon rolls, or dinner rolls).
  7. Bake according to variation: pizza at 475°F for 12–15 minutes, cinnamon rolls at 350°F for 25 minutes, or dinner rolls at 375°F for 20 minutes.

Notes

  • Recipe yields about 2 pounds of dough (2 large pizzas or 12 rolls).
  • Dough can be refrigerated for 24 hours after the first rise.
  • Freeze portions of dough for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat baked goods in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes for best texture.
  • Substitute half of the flour with whole wheat for a healthier version.
