Ingredients
Steak and Buns
- 1 pound flank steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slider buns
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
Cowboy Butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Grill or Skillet: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the steak and toasting the buns.
- Season the Steak: Rub the flank steak thoroughly with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
- Grill the Steak: Place the steak on the hot grill or skillet and cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness, or longer depending on your preferred level of steak doneness.
- Rest and Slice: Remove the steak from the heat source and let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Then, slice the steak thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Prepare Cowboy Butter: In a bowl, combine the softened butter with chopped parsley, chives, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Toast Slider Buns: Slice the slider buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden and slightly crisp.
- Assemble Sliders: Spread a generous dollop of the prepared cowboy butter onto the bottom half of each toasted slider bun.
- Add Steak and Veggies: Layer the thinly sliced steak over the butter, then top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and thin red onion slices.
- Top and Serve: Place the top bun half over each assembled slider and serve immediately while warm to enjoy the best flavors and textures.
Notes
- You can adjust the steak doneness to your preference by cooking times accordingly.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cowboy butter.
- Leftover cowboy butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Flank steak can be substituted with skirt steak if preferred.
- Use fresh herbs for the best flavor in the cowboy butter.
