Description
Churros Poppers are delightful bite-sized treats with a crispy exterior and soft interior, coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for parties or a sweet indulgence.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup water, 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Allow the dough to cool slightly. Once cool enough to handle, shape the dough into small balls about the size of a walnut.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the dough balls in batches, 3-4 at a time, until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Remove the fried poppers with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- While still warm, roll the poppers in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Inject with Nutella, caramel, or cream cheese for a filled version.
- Bake instead of fry for a lighter option.
- Add nutmeg or cardamom to coating for a flavor twist.
- Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.
