Description

Churros Poppers are delightful bite-sized treats with a crispy exterior and soft interior, coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for parties or a sweet indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup water, 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Allow the dough to cool slightly. Once cool enough to handle, shape the dough into small balls about the size of a walnut.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the dough balls in batches, 3-4 at a time, until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  7. Remove the fried poppers with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. While still warm, roll the poppers in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Inject with Nutella, caramel, or cream cheese for a filled version.
  • Bake instead of fry for a lighter option.
  • Add nutmeg or cardamom to coating for a flavor twist.
  • Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.
