Description
These Cheddar Bay Biscuits are a homemade version of the popular Red Lobster biscuits. Flaky, buttery, cheesy, and ready in just 20 minutes, they’re perfect as a side dish or enjoyed on their own.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), divided
- 1 cup whole milk
- 8 ounces shredded mild cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Add the melted butter and milk to the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- Drop heaping spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- While the biscuits are baking, melt the remaining 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) of butter in a small bowl. Stir in the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt and the dried parsley.
- Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the melted butter mixture.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a garlic butter topping, melt some butter with garlic powder and parsley, then brush over the biscuits.
- You can experiment with different cheeses like Pepper Jack or mozzarella for varied flavors.
- Adding fresh herbs like chives or thyme can enhance the flavor of the biscuits.
- For gluten-free biscuits, substitute with a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend that contains xanthan gum.
